Qatar Airways is to reinstate a direct link between London Gatwick and Doha from Tuesday 22 May 2018, with twice daily flights.
Flights will be operated by Qatar Airways’ Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in a two class, business and economy, configuration. The flight times vary by today, but typically depart London Gatwick at around 09:00 and 15:00 each day. A third daily flight will also operate on some days in the peak summer months.
Gatwick will obviously welcome the return of Qatar Airways and another long-haul destination from its airport. Qatar previously flew from Gatwick until May 2011.
The route will be codeshared with British Airways. Separately, BA and Qatar Airways have announced that their joint-venture will be extended to include more Qatar Airways destinations in Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
The following Qatar Airways flights from Doha should shortly be available for booking as codeshares from the UK on BA: Adelaide, Auckland, Canberra, Goa, Hanoi, Jakarta, Manila, Maputo, Melbourne, Pattaya, Penang, Perth, Phuket and Sohar. It does not include destinations which BA serves itself, such as Sydney.
The joint-venture which launched in 2016 currently includes Qatar Airways destinations such as Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Krabi, Multan, Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Denpasar Bali, Addis Ababa, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Basra, Baghdad, Khartoum, Kilimanjaro, Al Najaf, Dhaka, and Djibouti.
BA has also confirmed that its own London Heathrow – Doha service will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from 1 July 2018. This route is cancelled until 1 July for operational reasons.
