Norwegian’s aggressive expansion at London Gatwick continues with the launch of a new route from London Gatwick to Singapore Changi airport.
The route will launch on Thursday 28 September 2017. It will initially operate four times weekly, increasing to five times weekly from Monday 30 October 2017. The flight will be operated by the mainstay of Norwegian’s long-haul operations, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in a two class configuration.

Today’s announcement is significant for two reasons:
1. This is Norwegian’s first direct route from London Gatwick to Asia
This route will be operated by a new operating subsidiary, Norwegian Air UK, which is headquartered in the UK.
To cut a long story short, this allows Norwegian to launch many more long-haul routes from London Gatwick beyond its existing network to the USA. Norwegian’s press release indicates that, in addition to Asia, routes to Africa and South America are under consideration. Cape Town and Buenos Aires are strong candidates for new routes from Norwegian.
As Norwegian expands its long-haul operations from London to beyond the USA it is building up a very credible worldwide network which will rival that of Virgin Atlantic and worry British Airways.
Through Norwegian and other airlines such as WestJet and Air Canada Rouge, Gatwick now has extensive coverage of North America. It has recently attracted Cathay Pacific to launch a direct route to Hong Kong. With another route to Asia Gatwick is steadily building up its portfolio of long-haul routes.
Back to Norwegian, the initial flight times are listed below. Note that in both directions, there is a choice of a morning or late evening departure to suit your preferred time for travelling between London and Singapore.
