London City airport has long carved itself a niche for passengers wishing to avoid the crowds of London Gatwick and Heathrow and the increasingly crampt Airbus aircraft that are the workhorses of short-haul travel in Europe. In recent years, summer seasonal routes have become increasingly popular for both airlines and passengers. So here’s our guide to summer seasonal routes for 2018
With CityJet in retreat, BA now dominates the airport and particularly seasonal routes. CityJets’s former summer seasonal routes to Avignon and Toulon are not currently showing as available for booking in 2018.
On BA at London City you do benefit from 2-2 seating, more legroom and complimentary catering over Gatwick and Heathrow. The one downside is that London City is closed to passenger flights from Saturday to Sunday afternoon.
Many BA routes are also served by one or more of London Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted. It is of course possible to “mix and match” London departure and arrival airports in one booking if that is convenient.
Such is the nature of seasonal routes, it’s not possible to give precise timetable information as timings vary by day. Frequencies can also vary between the shoulder and peak summer season. Also note that routes are subject to change according to commercial demand and operational needs.

Florence
CityJet flies from London City to Florence daily from Sunday 25 March 2018 to Saturday 27 October 2018.
BA also flies from London City to Florence up to 4 times weekly from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from Tuesday 29 May 2018 to Thursday 6 September 2018.
Venice
BA flies from London City to Venice three times weekly on Monday, Friday and Saturday from Monday 26 March 2018 to Saturday 27 October 2018. BA also flies to Venice from London Gatwick and London Heathrow.
Spain
Granada
BA flies from London City to Granada three times weekly on Monday, Friday and Sunday from Sunday 25 March 2018 to Friday 26 October 2018.
Ibiza
BA flies from London City to Ibiza all year round. Flights operate 6 times weekly for most of the year and progressively increase to nearly 20 flights a week in the peak summer months of late June to late August/early September. BA also flies to Ibiza from London Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted.
Mahon
BA flies from London City to Mahon twice weekly on Monday and Friday from Friday 22 June 2018 to Friday 7 September 2018. BA also flies to Mahon from London Gatwick and Heathrow.
Malaga
BA flies to Malaga all year round and flights increase to 7 times weekly in the peak summer months. BA also flies to Malaga from London Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted.
Palma (Mallorca)
BA flies to Palma (Mallorca) all year round and increase up to 4 times weekly from Sunday 25 March 2018 to Friday 26 October 2018. BA also flies to Palma from London Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted.
