Now that Christmas is over thoughts turn to travel plans for the coming months. With many planning their next ski trip or an escape from the British winter weather, here’s a quick run through of direct winter seasonal routes from London which operate in addition to scheduled year round services.

Winter Ski Flights
In addition to scheduled year round services, the following airlines are operating these additional routes for the 2018 winter ski season:
Austria
BA has also increased flights from London Heathrow to Innsbruck to seven times weekly, including twice daily flights on Saturdays up to Saturday 24 March 2018.
BA is operating a twice weekly winter seasonal flight from London Heathrow to Salzburg on Saturdays and Sundays up to Sunday 15 April 2018.
Eurowings has also recently launched a twice weekly year round service from London Heathrow to Salzburg operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Finland
Finnair is operating a twice weekly winter seasonal service from London Gatwick to Ivalo (Ivalo airport) on Thursdays and Sundays until Thursday 22 March 2018.
Finnair is also operating a weekly seasonal service from London Gatwick to Kittilä on Tuesdays from 12 December 2017 until Tuesday 20 March 2018.
easyJet is also operating a weekly seasonal service from London Gatwick to Kittilä on Sundays until 4 March 2018.
France
BA is operating a twice weekly winter seasonal flight from London City to Chambery on Saturdays and Sundays up to Saturday 24 March 2018.
BA is operating a twice weekly winter seasonal flight from London Stansted to Chambery on Saturdays and Sundays up to Saturday 24 March 2018.
BA is operating a once weekly winter seasonal flight from London Heathrow to Grenoble Alpes Isère airport on Saturdays up to Saturday 14 April 2018.
Italy
BA is operating a twice weekly winter seasonal flight from London Heathrow to Turin airport on Saturdays and Sundays up to Saturday 24 March 2018 and Sunday 18 March 2018.
Switzerland
Swiss is operating a weekly winter seasonal flight from London Heathrow to Sion on Saturdays up to Saturday 24 February 2018.
Airline Policies On Carriage Of Ski Equipment
BA, Eurowings and Finnair flights from London Gatwick and Heathrow are operated using Airbus A319/A320 aircraft. BA flights from London City and Stansted, and Swiss flights to Sion are operated using Embraer E170/E190 aircraft.
Please note that policies on the carriage of ski equipment vary by one or more of airline and the type of fare purchased. In addition, there are weight and size restrictions on all individual items of checked luggage.
BA Basic Eurowings Basic and Swiss Economy Light fares do not include a checked luggage allowance. Therefore, any checked in ski equipment has to be paid for separately.

Reykjavik
The popularity of Reykjavik has increased hugely in recent years.
BA is operating a winter seasonal route from London City to Reykjavik, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays up to Thursday 22 March 2018. In addition, BA has increased London Heathrow – Reykjavik flights to from daily to twice daily up to Saturday 24 March 2018.
Cape Town

Cape Town is a hugely popular long-haul destination in the winter.
Now that Virgin Atlantic and South African Airways have withdrawn from the route, BA has a monopoly on the route at London Heathrow. In addition to its twice daily service, BA will operate additional flights from London Heathrow to Cape Town on Friday 5 January, Sunday 7 January, Friday 9 February, Friday 16 February and Friday 23 February 2018. The return flight operates the next day. All London Heathrow flights are operated with Boeing 747 aircraft.
At London Gatwick, both British Airways and Thomas Cook are operating a three times weekly winter seasonal service to Cape Town up until Saturday 24 March 2018.
London Heathrow Winter Sun Flights
Virgin Atlantic is operating a twice weekly service from London Heathrow to Barbados on Tuesdays and Saturdays up to Saturday 24 February 2018. This is in addition to its daily service from London Gatwick.
BA is operating a year round Saturday services from London Heathrow to Gran Canaria and Tenerife (Tenerife South Airport) on Saturdays.
Consumer Electronics Show – Additional Flights

Both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are operating additional flights for the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Virgin Atlantic will operating special flights from London Heathrow on Sunday 7 and Monday 8 January 2018 and will return from Las Vegas on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 January 2018. This is in addition to Virgin’s regular service from London Gatwick.
British Airways will also operate additional flights to/from London Heathrow and Las Vegas on Sunday 7, Tuesday 9, Thursday 11, Friday and Sunday 14 January 2018.
