As we have remarked before, British Airways has long earned itself the moniker “London Airways” for the fact that it does not fly internationally from any UK city other than London.

The one exception are routes operated by its franchise partner Sun Air which flies from Manchester to Billund and Gothenburg.

Another new route launched by Sun-Air is Cambridge to Gothernburg. We know Cambridge strictly isn’t London, but many airports have been flexible in this regard!

This route launches on 2 March 2015 and operates once a day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The outbound flight originates in Manchester, which is also where the inbound flight terminates.

Flight BA8235 Depart Manchester 07:30 – Arrive Cambridge 08:10
Flight BA8235 Depart Cambridge 08:30 – Arrive Gothenburg 11:35

Flight BA8236 Depart Gothenburg 16:20 – Arrive Cambridge 17:20
Flight BA8236 Depart Cambridge 17:50 – Arrive Manchester 18:35

The flight will be operated with a 32 seat Dornier commuter aircraft. No lounge facilities are available at Cambridge for business class passengers or Executive Club cardholders.

Flights do not operate on public holidays. Timetables may also vary around major holidays such as Christmas.

The aforementioned link also gives a clue as to why this service has launched. Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has a research facility Mölndal in Gothenburg.

Flights are on sale now on ba.com More information about Cambridge Airport is on its website.

British Airways and SAS also fly to Gothenburg from London Heathrow. Norwegian also flies to Gothenburg from London Gatwick.
