British Airways is to reinstate Airbus A380 flights from London Heathrow to Washington Dulles from Sunday 27 March 2022.
The airline has today, Friday 10 December 2021, updated its timetables.
The Airbus A380 will operate daily on flights BA293 and BA292 between Heathrow and Washington from Sunday 27 March to Saturday 29 October 2022.
BA is also due to reinstate further Airbus A380 routes to North America in the summer of 2022.
The return of the A380 to San Francisco has been postponed from 27 March 2022 to Sunday 1 May. It has also swapped from flights BA285 & BA284 to BA287 & BA286.
The Airbus A380 is provisionally due to operate to Chicago O’Hare from Wednesday 1 June 2022 (BA295 & BA294) and Boston from Sunday 15 May 2022 (BA213 & BA212) until Saturday 29 October 2022.
Edit: The airline had planned to fly the A380 to Dallas / Fort Worth from Sunday 27 March 2022. This changed on Monday 13 December to a Boeing 777 with the A380 due to start on 1 July 2022.
There may be occasional dates where the A380 is replaced with alternative aircraft.
As ever, schedules are subject to change at short notice. BA has also made a number of aircraft and frequency changes on other transatlantic routes. Many airlines are clearly banking on strong transatlantic traffic in the summer of 2022. As recent events have shown, travel restrictions can change at short notice.
Currently, BA is operating Airbus A380 flights between London Heathrow and Dubai (BA107 & BA106), Los Angeles (BA269 & BA268) and Miami (BA209 & BA208). It may also return to Johannesburg in early 2022 depending on travel restrictions
