Following the fire at Nairobi airport in Kenya yesterday, British Airways has provided details of the options available to passengers whose flights to Nairobi have been cancelled, or are booked to fly to Nairobi over the next few days.

Passengers booked to travel to Nairobi until Sunday 11 August 2013, whether or not their original flight is cancelled, have the option of rebooking on to a later Nairobi service (subject to availability) or to another British Airways gateway in Africa (Entebbe, Lusaka, Cape Town or Johannesburg). However, any consequential expenses such as ground transportation are at your own expense.

Refunds are only available to those whose flights are cancelled.

British Airways has also taken flights to Nairobi in the coming days off sale until the position regarding the resumption of flights is clarified. At the time of writing the flight to Nairobi on Friday 9 August 2013 is scheduled to operate.

Update: British Airways has since resumed flights to Nairobi. However, passengers are advised to expect basic departure/arrival facilities and long queues at the airport. Passengers travelling from London Heathrow to Nairobi are advised to check that any onward flights are operating. Passengers travelling from Nairobi are advised to arrive at the airport no later than three hours before departure.
