Late last year, we wrote of a new initiative between First Great Western and British Airways, whereby BA passengers could book a flight with a connection on First Great Western to London Paddington, and the Heathrow Express from Paddington to Heathrow on a single ticket.
The main advantage is that if either the passenger’s train journey or flight is delayed, the onward flight or train journey is protected (and this includes the provision of overnight accommodation if necessary).
First Great Western has now signed up Singapore Airlines to a similar initiative. It applies to the following train stations served by First Great Western:
Bath, Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads, Cardiff, Exeter, Oxford, St Austell, Par, Plymouth, Penzance, Swansea.
More information is available from Singapore Airlines.
It’s worth noting that all passengers (regardless of the cabin flown on Singapore Airlines) have a choice of different rail tickets (SaverExpress, FlexiExpress & BusinessExpress) which offer different levels of flexibility as well as on board travel classes.
