British Airways will suspend flights from London to Bilbao from Sunday 27 March 2022.
Before COVID-19, BA flights to Bilbao operated from London Gatwick airport, having not long transferred from London Heathrow.
The route has more recently operated from Heathrow along with all other Gatwick short haul flights, but with brief periods of suspension. Indeed, no flights will operate from Saturday 8 January until Friday 4 February 2022.
The route will not resume at Gatwick when BA restarts short haul flights on Tuesday 29 March 2022.
This suspension was expected as flights had been taken off sale. The route is now confirmed as suspended from 27 March 2022.
Refund & Rebooking Options
Passengers whose flights are cancelled are entitled to a full refund.
BA is also offering affected passengers rebooking onto Vueling flights between Gatwick and Bilbao.
Passengers should be aware that Vueling does not offer a business class cabin. BA will continue to codeshare on Vueling flights to Bilabo from Gatwick.
Affected passengers can check the status of their booking using the Manage My Booking tool on ba.com and should contact BA or their travel agent if necessary.

Please reinstate flights from London Heathrow to Bilbao, Spain. I regularly used this route about 4 to 5 times per year.
Also, please reinstate flights from City Airport to Granada, Spain. That route was a lovely experience on the smaller jet and reminded me of flying in days gone by because of the friendliness of the staff, the generous seating space and convenience of the route. I have business and family in both towns, Bilbao and Granada, though I live in London.
