British Airways will return to Sydney from Sunday 27 March 2022.
This will be the first time in two years the airline has operated a scheduled flight to Australia.
Whilst BA’s presence in Australia is a shadow of what it used to be, its return is symbolic given there is almost 90 years’ history of UK flights from London to Australia via Singapore.
Flights will operate daily using a four class Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This replaces a Boeing 777-300 aircraft BA used before COVID-19.
This also means flights to Singapore will increase from the current frequency of four times weekly to daily, under flights BA15 & B16 instead of BA11 & BA12.

VTL Flights To Singapore Will Continue
Since October 2021, BA has operated a “Vaccinated Travel Lane” flight from London Heathrow to Singapore.
This allows quarantine free travel to Singapore, subject to meeting all requirements including COVID-19 vaccination status and travel history. Full details are available from the Singapore government.
This is expected to continue when BA’s Singapore flight extends to Sydney.
This means passengers travelling from London to Sydney, and from Sydney to London, must comply with both Australian and Singapore government rules.
The only exceptions are, as now, passengers travelling solely from Singapore to London, and solely from Singapore to Sydney.
Passengers who cannot meet these requirements will need to contact either BA or their travel agent for rebooking advice.
Ground Services & Lounges
At Singapore Changi Airport, the BA lounge is currently closed and is one of the last remaining lounges to reopen.
The Qantas International Business lounge is open and the Qantas International First lounge is closed.

Conversely at Sydney, the Qantas International First lounge is open and the Qantas International Business lounge is closed.
The most up to date lounge information is available from Qantas and the Oneworld alliance website.
General guidance for transit passengers is also available from Singapore Changi Airport.
