Air Canada will fly from London Heathrow to Mumbai daily from Sunday 30 October 2022.
The airline has launched a new winter seasonal route from Toronto to Mumbai, which will fly via Heathrow.
The flight between London and Mumbai will operate as a “fifth freedom” flight. This means passengers wishing to fly between London and Mumbai can book this as a standalone flight.
Air Canada also offers connections at Heathrow from other flights from Canada. The airline also says that connections will also be available from United Airlines, but these do not appear to be on sale yet.
Flights will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft in a three class configuration.
Air Canada has rerouted flights between Canada and India to avoid Russian airspace. Immediately after the closure of Russian airspace, some flights from Delhi initially stopped in Dublin for refuelling. Air Canada is likely to resume non-stop services between Toronto and Mumbai if circumstances allow.
Air Canada also has a surplus of Heathrow slots at the moment, with many leased out to other airlines.
