British Airways has moved a number of short & long haul routes back from London Heathrow Terminal 3 to 5.

The changes have been applied today, Tuesday 28 June, with effect from Tuesday 12 July 2022.

The airline had made a number of route moves between Terminals 3 & 5 at the start of the summer season in March. Many of these have now been reversed.

It is quite unusual for BA to move routes during the middle of the season and at short notice. This is possibly due to congestion at Terminal 3 and schedule cuts which enable more routes to be accommodated at Terminal 5.

To accommodate the move American Airlines and Iberia will move back to Terminal 3 on the same date.

Note that the Heathrow airport website has not yet been updated with these changes.

Readers can keep up to date with the latest moves with a dedicated guide to BA at Terminal 3.

Long Haul Route Moves From Terminal 3 to 5

All BA long haul routes will move from Terminal 3 to 5 from Tuesday 12 July:

Accra
Austin

The following short haul routes will move from Terminal 3 to 5 from Tuesday 12 July:

Algiers
Bologna

These routes will stay at Terminal 3:

As these changes have only just been applied, further changes are possible in the coming days.

Passengers with connections at Heathrow should check their itineraries as the Minimum Connection Time for T3 – T5 transfers is 90 minutes, compared to 60 minutes for T5 – T5 connections.

    1. Iberia is showing as operating at Terminal 3 over the winter, so possibly yes. There are likely to be a lot of schedule changes to come for the winter – BA is clearly just battling to get through the summer at the moment.

–> i have now less than 90 minutess. What should i do? will American Airlines at T3 wait for us as we booked the whole trip with British Airways?

      2. Hi, If you booked your trip with British Airways you will need contact BA to rebook your connecting flight from Heathrow. Realistically, I would allow at least 2 hours for a connection between Terminals 5 & 3. If possible, you could rebook onto a BA transatlantic flight from Terminal 5 so you don’t need to change terminals at Heathrow.
