Significant disruption to Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect services from London Paddington over Christmas 2016

There will be very significant disruption to both Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect services between London Paddington and Heathrow airport over the Christmas and New Year period.

Heathrow Express

The Heathrow Express will not operate at all between Christmas Eve, Saturday 24 December and Thursday 29 December 2016.

This is due to work on the new Crossrail line (also known as The Elizabeth Line) through Central London.

The Heathrow Express will operate very 30 minutes on Friday 30 December 2016 and Saturday 31 December 2016.

On these dates, the first train from Paddington will depart at 05:25 and then at 55 and 25 minutes past the hour with the last service at 23:25. The first service from London Heathrow Terminal 5 will depart at 05:27 and then at 57 and 27 minutes past the hour with the last service at 23:42. The first service from London Heathrow Terminals 2&3 will depart at 05:33 and then at 03 and 33 minutes past the hour with the last service at 23:46.

The Heathrow Express will operate a near normal service on New Year’s Day, Sunday 1 January 2017 and every 30 minutes on Monday 2 January 2017.

More details are on the Heathrow Express website.

Heathrow Connect

The Heathrow Connect will not operate at all between Christmas Eve, Saturday 24 December and Saturday 31 December 2016.

A modified service will operate on New Year’s Day Sunday 1 January and Monday 2 January with no stops at West Ealing or Hanwell.

More details are on the Heathrow Connect website.

There will also be significant disruption to other inter-city and suburban railway services from London Paddington over Christmas and New Year with full details available from National Rail.

Transport for London which operates the Tube / London Underground network has yet to confirm which lines are operating over Christmas but the Tube does not operate on Christmas Day.

For the benefit of visitors to the UK, in general, public transport in the UK on Christmas Day is very limited and advance planning is strongly recommended. Also, both Tube / London Underground and National Rail intercity and suburban rail services finish much earlier than usual on Christmas Eve. Food & beverage and other retail outlets at stations also close much earlier on Christmas Eve.
