Delta to move London – New York, Boston and Seattle flights to London Heathrow Terminal 3

Virgin Atlantic and Delta have been busy putting the final touches to their transatlantic joint-venture which launches next year.

Scheduled to Boston and New York have been tweaked. Delta launches a daily flight to Seattle on 29 March 2014 and a second daily flight to Detroit on 9 June 2014.

In the most significant move to date, Delta is relocating its services from London Heathrow to Boston, New York and Seattle from Heathrow Terminal 4 to Terminal 3 from 2 April 2014.

Other Delta services to Detroit, Atlanta and Minneapolis will remain in Terminal 4. I assume this is in part due to space constraints pending airline moves into Terminal 2 which opens next year.

This is significant for Delta passengers as it does provide access to Virgin’s excellent ground facilities in Terminal 3, notably the Upper Class Wing and Clubhouse (though I suspect the additional traffic may not be appreciated by regular Virgin Atlantic passengers). Although, it is separating itself from fellow Skyteam partners in Terminal 4, breaking the recent trend for airlines be located at Heathrow by alliance.
